Overview
A static IP address makes it easier to work remotely using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or other remote access programs. Static IP addresses make it easier to use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for teleconferencing or other voice and video communications
Procedure
Step 1:
Whenever a client requires an address to be permanently assigned to a device, a Static Address should be requested at the following link: Request Static IP Address.
Step 2:
After clicking on the URL, click the "Request Service" button at the top right. Then, complete the service request form by providing your first name, last name, department, and rationale for requesting a static IP address as depicted in the image below.

Step 3:
Next, complete the Device Detail section by providing first and last name for person(s) who own the machine. In this section, you will also have to provide details of the Ethernet/MAC address of the computer, the location of the device, and the host name of the device.
Step 4:
After completing the field, click on submit, to request a static IP address.
Note:
If your request is successful, the following message (below) will be displayed.
At this point, the proper department will receive this request and will assign an IP address to the ethernet address(es) provided, as long as the request is valid; the department does reserve the right to decline the request
