Overview
You can connect to shared computers and file servers on your network, including Mac and Windows computers that have file sharing turned on, and servers that use AFP, SMB/CIF, NFS, and FTP or for those who have access or have been added to an NMSU vault drive.
Procedure
The processes described in this document as well as screenshots were done using MacOS High Sierra but the process will be the same for users running Sierra as well as some earlier MacOS versions.
Step 1:
From your home screen navigate to the menu, found at the top left, titled Go and select the option named Connect to Server... or you may use the shortcut keys command+K to launch directly.
Step 2:
This will open a small panel titled "Connect to Server". You will need to click in the open box below "Server Address:" and type smb://vault.nmsu.edu/ followed by a path directory specific to your vault. For example, smb://vault.nmsu.edu/education might be a vault path. Once you have entered the correct path to your shared vault click the Connect button to continue.
Note: If you do not know, are unsure, or this process fails to connect please contact the administrator (the person who added you to the vault share), this person should know the correct path directory.
Step 3:
The next window you ask you to provide a name and password. You will need to enter your NMSU credentials into these fields before you click Connect. You will also need to make sure the option next to "Connect As:" is selected as Registered User and click Connect.
If everything was entered correctly and your NMSU credentials have been added with access permissions you should now be connected and can access the vault through Finder on your device.
