Overview
MATLAB is a numerical computing software available to all current NMSU students. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to download and install MATLAB on campus or remotely.
Before you begin
To access MATLAB from off-campus or on a personal computer, you must install the Cisco VPN client to connect to the campus network.

Procedure
Steps to Download and Install MATLAB:
Step 1:
Click on this link and select “Sign in to get started.”

Step 2:
Enter your NMSU email address then click Next.
If you don’t already have a MathWorks account, you’ll be guided through the account creation process.
Note: MathWorks is the company that develops MATLAB, so you’ll need a MathWorks account to download and install the software.
Step 3:
Create your MathWorks account by filling out the required fields.
Check the box to agree to the Online Service Agreement and click Next.
Step 4:
You will be directed to the License Center confirming your university’s license.
Click Get Started to proceed.

Step 5:
In the top right corner of the MATLAB account page, click the Install MATLAB icon.

Step 6:
Choose your preferred MATLAB version based on your operating system from the available download options.

Step 7:
Once the download is complete:
- Navigate to your Downloads folder.
- Mac users: Expand the downloaded file before starting installation.
- Double-click the installer to launch the installation wizard.
Step 8:
When prompted, sign in with your NMSU email address and click Next.
Step 9:
You’ll be redirected to the NMSU login page.
Log in using your NMSU username and password, then approve the sign-in request via two-factor authentication (2FA).
Step 10:
Review and accept the MathWorks Software License Agreement, then click Next.
Step 11:
Complete the remaining installation prompts:

Select the license you will be using and click Next.

Choose your desired destination folder, then click Next.

Select the products you wish to install. MATLAB will already be selected. Click Next.

Choose any optional features and click Next.

Review your selections, then click Begin Install.

Once installation is complete, click Finish.
