Registration: Schedule Builder

Overview

All students currently enrolled at NMSU have access to the NMSU Schedule Builder through their myNMSU portal. This tool allows students to create a custom plan for their semester including the courses to be taken, scheduled break times, choosing the method of instruction, and the campus location, to name but a few of this tool's functions. The Schedule Builder tool is accessible through the myNMSU Portal after logging in here my.nmsu.edu

Procedure


Step 1:

Once you have logged in click on the Academics Tab and locate the Registration & Advising card. 

Select Aggie Schedule Builder.

Step 2: 
Select the Term you would like to prepare the schedule builder.

Step 3:

Select the campus location(s) from which you would like to view available courses.

  • You may select one or multiple locations, depending on where you’re willing to take classes.

After making your selection(s), click the “Save and Continue” button located at the bottom of the screen to proceed.

Step 4:

You will now see on-screen instructions for adding your preferred method.
Follow the prompts carefully to complete the setup for the option you select.

You are now at the main menu of the Schedule Builder. From here, you can customize all the settings and preferences for your schedule to suit your needs.
 

Course Status

To view and select new settings click the Change button to the right of "Course Status".
From here you will have three options:
  • Open Classes Only 
  • Open & Full w/Waitlist Open
  • Open & Full
Once you made your desired selection, click the Save button at the bottom right of your screen.
 
 

Instruction Modes

To view and select new settings, click the Change button to the right of "Instruction Modes".
From here, you will have three options, as well as a "Select All Instruction Modes" option. The other options are:
  • Online or Online with Limited Classroom 
  • Traditional 
Once you made your desired selection, click the Save button at the bottom right of your screen.
 

Campuses

*You already made a selection for the campus upon entering the Aggie Schedule Builder

To view and select new settings click the Change button to the right of "Campuses".
From here you will have several options including:
  • Select All Campuses
  • NMSU - Las Cruces (Main)
  • NMSU - Alamogordo
  • NMSU - Grants
  • DACC - East Mesa Campus 
  • DACC - Other 
Once you made your desired selection, click the Save button at the bottom right of your screen.
 
 

Terms

This will default to the upcoming semester.
 

Parts of Term

To view and select new settings click the Change button to the right of "Parts of Term".
From here you will have several options including:
  • First 8 Weeks 
  • Full Term
  • Second 8 Weeks 
  • Short Course
By default, all of these will be selected. 
 
Once you made your desired selection, click the Save button at the bottom right of your screen.
 
 
Once you make your selections from the categories above you can make your course selections and schedule your breaks.
 
 

Courses

Click on the button to the right of "Courses" labeled Add Course. This will take you to a new screen from which you can select and add your desired courses. 
 
To search for a course:
  1. First, select the appropriate Subject from the drop-down menu. 
  2. Then, choose the desired Course from the next drop-down menu.

Once you've selected a course, a description will appear below, providing details about it.

If you wish to add the selected course, click the Add Course button below the drop-down menus. You can then search for another course, or if you're finished, click the Done button to exit. 

 

Breaks

Click on the button to the right of "Breaks" labeled Add Break. This will take you to a new screen from where you can name and schedule breaks.
To complete a scheduled break and add it to your Schedule Builder, you must make a selection or entry in each of the required fields displayed on the screen:
 
Break Name - Here you will name your break (e.g. lunch, nap, gym etc.)
Start Time - The time you plan to start your break
End Time - the time you plan to end your break
Days - The days of the week you want this break to apply
 
Note: If your selected break time or day conflicts with a scheduled course, Schedule Builder will not allow you to complete the entry.
 

Generate Schedules

Once you have added all your desired "Courses" and "Breaks", scroll to the bottom of the main window and click the Generate Schedules button to complete your schedule. 
You can now view and print any of the schedules you've generated.
