Overview

This article provides valuable insights into using your Cisco IP Phone, including an overview of available models and step-by-step instructions for customizing your phone to suit your preferences.

Cisco Phone- Available Model

There are four different models of Cisco phones available for use by the NMSU community. These include the: 

  1. Cisco Unified IP 3905 - A cost-effective, entry-level IP phone that addresses the need for basic voice communications with common Cisco Unified Communications features in an attractive design that is also budget-friendly. Best suited for cubicle, retail, classroom, manufacturing floor, and hallway, as well as various wall-mounted deployments.
  2. Cisco Unified IP 7861 - A cost-effective, high-fidelity voice communications portfolio designed to improve your organization’s people-centric communications, while reducing your operating costs. Supports 16 lines and is best suited for reception and other front desk deployments. 
  3. Cisco Unified IP 8841 - A business-class collaboration endpoint that delivers high-fidelity, reliable, secure, and scalable voice communication for small to large enterprise businesses. Fixed function keys give you one-touch access to applications, messaging, directory, as well as often-used calling features such as hold/resume, transfer, and conference.
  4. Cisco Unified IP 8945 VIP - A new and innovative IP endpoint that delivers affordable, business-grade voice and video communication services to customers worldwide. The phone supports four lines and four context-sensitive soft keys along with a high-definition voice, and full-duplex speakerphone for a more productive and more flexible endpoint experience.

How to Adjust Font Sizes

You can adjust the font size on your phone to make the screen easier to read. Keep in mind, increasing the font size may cause some messages to be truncated.

Font size adjustments will affect the following labels:

  • Call screen (caller name and feature key labels)
  • Caller name in recent calls
  • Line labels on the phone screen

How to Set a Ringtone

The Cisco Unified Phone Application Suite Ringtone Designer is a GUI-based sound editor that lets you create, modify, and deploy personalized ring tones to your Cisco Unified IP Phone.
