Overview
Your password can be easily compromised. Enhance security with two-factor authentication (2FA). The free Microsoft Authenticator app adds an extra layer of security by requiring multiple verification methods when signing into an application.
Before you begin
Install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your Smart Phone:
To install Authenticator on your iOS device:
Scan the QR code

or download and install Authenticator from the Apple app store.
To install Authenticator on your Android device:
Scan the QR code

Procedure
Step 1:
After downloading the app, visit my.nmsu.edu on your phone's browser.

Step 2:
Enter your "NMSU" email address then, click Next.

Step 3:
Enter your passphrase, then click Sign in.

Step 4:
After successfully signing in, you will be prompted with the screen below saying "More information required". Click Next.

Step 5:
The screen will prompt you to download the application from "Before You Begin", click Next to continue.

Step 6:
Select "Pair your account to the app by clicking this link".
Note: The authenticator app will open and prompt for your screen lock (if enabled).
After unlocking, the account will be added.
Return to your browser and click Next.
Step 7:
After clicking Next, a new page will open displaying a number with a notification that says "TIME SENSITIVE, Approve sing-in?".
Click on the Notification keeping the number in mind.
Note: Clicking on the notification will open the Authenticator App. Unlock the application if you have Screen Lock enabled.
Step 8:
After unlocking the application, you will be prompted with with a notification.
Enter the number displayed on Step 7 inside the window that says "Enter number here", then click Yes.
Note: If the number was entered correctly, you will get an "Approved" notification at the top of the screen.
Return to your browser to continue the set up.
Step 9:
After returning to the browser, the window will say "Notification approved". Click Next.

Step 10:
You have now completed the Authenticator Set-up. Click Done to finish.
