Google Chrome - Manage Ads, Pop-ups & Remove Malware

Overview

If you're experiencing issues like persistent pop-up ads, unwanted tabs, or changes to your homepage or search engine, your device may be affected by unwanted software or malware.

Chrome give you the option to block or allow pop-ups depending on your preferences. While most pop-ups are unwanted, some legitimate sites use them for essential functionality, such as logging in or displaying secure forms.

Common signs of unwanted software or malware includes:

  • Pop-ups and new tabs that won’t close
  • Homepage or search engine changes without your consent
  • Unwanted extensions or toolbars reappearing
  • Redirects to unfamiliar websites or ads
  • Fake virus alerts or security warnings
