Shared Storage

What Is It?

Shared Storage provides departments with secure file space for managing and sharing departmental files. Storage is billed based on usage and can be adjusted as needed. Storing HIPAA or PII data (as defined by state and federal laws) is strictly prohibited.

User Responsibilities

  • Ensure that no HIPAA or PII data is stored.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of users and access groups.
  • Track and monitor folder access.
  • Restrict access to departmental members only.
  • Provide the correct share name and username when submitting requests.

System Responsibilities

  • Create and manage Shared Storage shares.
  • Add or remove users as requested.
  • Restore files when necessary.
  • Adjust share size as needed.
Who Is Eligible to Use It?

Academic and administrative departments at NMSU may request shared storage.

How Do I Get Started?

Click the  Request Shared Storage button to submit your department name, contact info, and reason for the request. IT will review and set up your share. 

You will be prompted to enter your name, department, and a detailed description of the purpose of the share

How Much Does It Cost?

A one-time setup fee of $35.50 applies, with a monthly charge of $16.17 per user.
