Shared Mailbox

What Is It?

NMSU allows shared mailboxes to be created for departments. These are email addresses that multiple people have access to. Users can receive and send emails all through one email, while still being logged into their normal NMSU accounts/emails. These mailboxes allow different people in a department to see and answer emails addressed to the department. NMSU prohibits sharing a single user account and its password, so shared mailboxes allow a department to have a department email address without sharing a password between the users who have access to said department address.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

All members of faculty and staff within a department are eligible to request a shared mailbox for use within their department. Users may only add other users within their department and NMSU-affiliated faculty and staff to shared mailboxes.

How Do I Get Started?

You can click on "Request Shared Mailbox" button above to request a shared mailbox. You will be prompted to enter your name, department, and the name of your requested shared mailbox.

How Much Does It Cost?

There is no fee to request or create shared mailboxes at NMSU.
