Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate Request

What Is It?

A SSL Certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates a website’s identity and enables an encrypted connection. Whenever a site has a valid SSL certificate, you see the little lock at the top of your address bar, and the site address begins with https rather than http. This indicates that all internet traffic moving in and out of the website is encrypted. If you are making an NMSU site, you should certainly have an SSL Certificate. Having an SSL Certificate, and therefore the https link, not only keeps the site information far more secure but is expected with reputable sites in our modern age.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

Any NMSU department granted a domain through NMSU's Domain Request Service is eligible to request an SSL Certificate to keep their site's information secure.

How Do I Get Started?

You can click the "Request SSL Certificate" button above to request an SSL Certificate for your website. You will be prompted to enter your name, phone number, NMSU email address, and whether you are requesting a new SSL Certificate or a renewal.

How Much Does It Cost?

The current fee for an SSL Certification is $50 per year.
