What Is It?
The Shared Server Room (SASR) provides secure, IT-managed space for approved equipment with:
- Climate control and humidity monitoring
- Filtered power with 80 KVA UPS backup
- Fire detection/suppression
- Gigabit-capable, twisted pair NMSU network connectivity
- 24/7 restricted access (IT-approved patrons only) and video surveillance
- 24/7 SASR access
- Training on the electrical power, fire detection/suppression system, and security
Who Is Eligible to Use It?
NMSU faculty and staff may request SASR access. Users defined in the SLA are responsible for the following:
- Servers hosted in SASR must not store personally identifiable or confidential NMSU business data
- Users must follow all IT-UCC policies related to power, fire safety, security, and facility cleanliness
- Report all issues to IT-UCC by submitting a service ticket through NMSU’s Service Catalog
- After-hours issues are handled per the Escalation Procedures
- Equipment must be rack-mountable and All installations must be pre-approved by the UCC Manager
- IT maintains purchasing agreements with select vendors for supported equipment

How Much Does It Cost?
IT provides fee-based support for SASR users, including server setup and network connectivity. This service extends beyond the standard 40-hour work week billed at $65 per hour.
