Branded Short URL

What Is It?

A Branded Short URL is an alternate domain name for a web page that is unique to a specific brand or website. The New York Times uses the following branded URL, for example: nyti.ms. Using a branded URL can shorten your URL, make it easier to share, and improve your site's search rankings.  Unlike generic shortened links (like bit.ly or goo.gl), we recommend using a link that incorporates the NMSU name, associating your department or organization with the content you share. This helps to reinforce brand awareness and increase our brand recognition.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

Academic and administrative departments at NMSU are eligible to request Branded Short URLs for sites created by department members.
